Limits, formats, batch uploads, mobile capture, email-to-inbox, and what happens after the upload completes.
Uploading Documents
What file formats are supported?
PDF, DOCX/DOC, XLSX/XLS, PPTX/PPT, TXT, and all common images (JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP). Other formats are accepted but won't get full AI extraction — they're stored and searchable by filename/tags.
What's the maximum file size?
| Plan | Single file | Batch upload |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 50 MB | 200 MB |
| Starter | 200 MB | 1 GB |
| Business | 500 MB | 2 GB |
| Enterprise | Configurable | Configurable |
Larger files can be uploaded via the resumable upload API.
Can I upload from my phone?
Yes — via the Papyrus mobile app or directly from your phone's browser. The mobile app additionally supports camera capture: point at a document, app auto-deskews and enhances, uploads as OCR-ready PDF.
What's the email-to-inbox feature?
Every tenant has a unique email address (e.g., inbox@yourtenant.papyrus.io). Forward any email there — the email body and attachments are ingested automatically. Brilliant for supplier invoices arriving via email.
What happens after upload?
Within ~30 seconds: classification (AI guesses document type), OCR (for image-based files), metadata extraction (dates, amounts, parties, KRA PIN, etc.), embedding (for semantic search), and any auto-routed workflow (e.g., invoice → AP approval).
Can I upload a whole folder structure at once?
Yes — drag-and-drop a folder onto Papyrus, or install the Desktop Upload Agent to auto-upload anything placed in a watched folder. Sub-folder names become auto-tags.
What happens if I upload a duplicate?
Papyrus detects duplicates by SHA-256 hash. You'll be prompted: skip, create a new version of the existing document, or keep both as separate files.
Can I undo an upload?
Yes — soft-delete it within 30 days from the Recycle Bin. After 30 days, soft-deleted files are permanently removed (configurable per tenant).
