Custom Field

A tenant-defined metadata field attached to a document type — extending the standard Papyrus extraction schema.

Custom Field

A custom field is a tenant-defined metadata field attached to a specific document type. Papyrus ships with standard fields per type (invoice number, KRA PIN, contract value, etc.), but tenants often need additional fields specific to their domain.

Examples:

  • A SACCO may add Loan Officer Code to Loan Files
  • An NGO may add Donor Reference to Grant Reports
  • A County Government may add Ward to Service Records

Custom fields can be: text, number, date, currency, single-select (from a list), multi-select, or boolean. They can be marked required.

For the AI extraction pipeline to populate custom fields automatically, the tenant typically needs to label 50+ examples. Below that threshold, custom fields are populated manually.

Custom fields are searchable and filterable like any standard field.
