Permission

A specific right granted to a user or role — View, Edit, Share, Delete, Approve — on a specific resource.

Permission

A permission is a specific right granted to a user or role on a specific resource. In Papyrus, permissions are atomic and additive — a user has the union of all permissions granted to them directly, via their roles, via their department, and via inheritance from parent folders.

The standard Papyrus permission set:

  • View — see the document/folder exists; read its content
  • Download — download the file
  • Print — print (where printing is restricted)
  • Edit — modify content or metadata
  • Delete — soft-delete (and restore from recycle bin)
  • Share — share internally or externally
  • Comment — add comments and @mentions
  • Approve — act on workflow tasks
  • ManagePermissions — grant/revoke permissions to others

Permissions can be granted on individual documents, on folders (with inheritance), on workspaces, or at the tenant level (via roles).
