Tag

A tag is a flexible label applied to a document. Unlike a folder (a document has exactly one), a document can have many tags. Tags are the primary way to slice the same document multiple ways.

Examples:

  • A contract tagged q1-2026, acme-corp, kes-denominated, pending-renewal
  • An invoice tagged paid, 2026-april, supplier-xyz, under-50k
  • A policy tagged hr, published, 2026-revision, nairobi-office

Papyrus's AI auto-suggests tags on upload (based on content and folder context). Users can confirm, modify, add, or remove. The Desktop Agent's sub-folder paths become tags automatically.

Tags are searchable and filterable. Clicking a tag chip on a document filters to all documents with that tag. Tag clouds visualise the active tagging vocabulary across a department or workspace.
